Risk assessment
Risk assessments can be broadly categorized into hazard assessment and exposure assessment, each of which can be evaluated to characterize risk.
Ultimately, the risk characterization ratio should be used to ensure that the risk is sufficiently controlled.
Risk assessment
A health and environmental hazard assessment is an evaluation performed to determine the classification and labeling of a chemical and to derive chemical concentrations at which adverse effects in humans or ecosystems are not expected to occur.
To derive the PNEC, NOAEL is selected based on the hazard information and evaluated by considering the evaluation factor that considers the uncertainty.
Exposure assessment
A human and environmental exposure assessment is a detailed description of exposure scenarios that identifies the uses of a chemical and the uses of downstream users, describes how the chemical is manufactured and used throughout its life cycle, and details how exposure is controlled or recommended to be controlled by downstream users.
