CAS No stands for Chemical Abstract Service Register Number and is a unique number assigned to a chemical whose chemical structure or composition has been determined.

In addition, chemicals can be named differently according to different chemical nomenclature systems.
To avoid this confusion, the American Chemical society (ACS) assigns chemicals a unique number, known as a CAS number.
To date, nearly 32 million organic and inorganic chemicals have been assigned CAS numbers, and this number is constantly being updated.
It is not uncommon for an importer or exporter to request a CAS number for a substance, especially if it is a new chemical.
This is because the CAS number is reliable as a unique number for the substance and is the international standard for identifying the homogeneity of chemicals.
